SODO Station
Background
In July 2022, the Sound Transit Board identified the At-grade Alternative Staggered Station Configuration incorporating refinement that enhances access from the platform to South Lander Street as the preferred alternative in the SODO segment. The preferred alternative for the SODO station is an at-grade station located on the west side of the existing SODO station just north of South Lander Street. This page provides more detail about the preferred alternative station. We will continue to study all the station locations analyzed in the Draft EIS as part of the Final EIS, anticipated to be published in mid-2024. The Sound Transit Board will determine the final project to be built after the Final EIS is published.
- Support from businesses and business organizations to have SODO Station closer to South Lander Street.
- Seamless transfers between the 1 Line and 3 Line platforms is important.
- Station should contribute to increased vibrancy, development, and safety of the area.
- Walking routes to the station should be improved, especially between the station and large employment centers.
- Preserve freight mobility and minimize conflicts with other modes.
- Station could best serve members of local communities by integrating with Metro bus service and improving transit mobility in the area.
- Use art, landscaping, and architecture to create spaces for people, while embracing the area’s industrial character.
- Provide an open and well-lit station to increase safety and visibility.
- Provide safe pedestrian and bike crossings at South Lander Street and the SODO Busway.
